Your State Parks Day Success

Friends of Georgia State Parks' annual volunteer workday, Your State Parks Day, was a huge success.

This year, Friends partnered with Keep Georgia Beautiful and Rivers Alive to make a difference in, and preserve Georgia's greatest treasures. Sixty-five state parks and historic sites, and 60 Friends chapters worked together to make this day happen.

From trash pick-up in rivers, lakes, and streams, to cleaning historic site dwellings, painting campground facilities, and many beautification projects, there were over 100 projects offered throughout the state.

An estimated 4500 pounds of trash and debris were collected and over 50 miles covered. These projects brought over 1200 volunteers to the parks who put in 5000 volunteer hours. THAT is what makes it a great day.

Make your calendars for Your State Parks Day 2020 - Saturday, September 26, 2020.
