July 2025
Our Volunteer Heroes

Friends of New Echota State Historic Site are helping history come to life through a new heritage garden. As part of the Cherokee Nation’s Harvesting Our Heritage program, the garden reflects traditional Cherokee agriculture once practiced when New Echota served as the Cherokee capital. With support from the Georgia Cherokee Community Alliance, volunteers recently completed mulching and prep work to get the garden growing. Join a Friends group, and be part of the difference—volunteer today and help our parks grow and thrive.
