November 2025
Our Volunteer Heroes

Friends of Reed Bingham made a significant impact on Your State Parks Day by transforming the park’s flagpole area. In partnership with park staff, the group replaced landscape timbers, refreshed the plantings, and enhanced the space with new pavers and mulch. Their hard work and generosity created a more welcoming and accessible area for all visitors. This project is an excellent example of what can happen when dedicated volunteers come together to support their park. Join a Friends group and be part of the difference—volunteer today and help our parks grow and thrive.

Native American Heritage Month

This November, celebrate Native American Heritage Month by visiting culturally rich historical sites across Georgia. Discover the capital of the Cherokee Nation at the New Echota Historic Site, or explore the largest Woodland Site that dates back to 350 to 750 A.D at Kolomoki Mounds State Park. Experience a guided hike at Etowah Indian Mounds to learn about the village life and Mississippian Culture. Take a journey through the past to learn about Cherokee leader and plantation owner at Chief Vann House. Bring a Georgia State Parks Passport to complete the challenge and earn a sticker during November. Embrace and reflect on Georgia’s Native American history throughout the season.
