Spend this Labor Day outside at Georgia's State Parks. Enjoy a dip into the Libery Bell pool at F.D. Roosevelt or participate in colonial trade skills for Laborers Day at Fort King George. Take a wagon ride and try the glow-in-the-dark mini golf at Hard Labor Creek or join the musket cannon firing for Labor Day commemoration at Fort Morris. Bring a paintbrush to the paint in the park at Sweetwater Creek and unleash your creativity. With so many options available, everyone is sure to have a great time this month at Georgia's State Parks.

Your State Parks Day

Join us on September 23, 2023 for Your State Parks Day! In celebration of National Public Lands Day, Friends invites everyone to come out to show your support for your state parks. Our dedicated volunteers are eager to help you learn about Birds, Bats, and Bees, and the crucial role that these and other pollinators play. Spend the day repairing the erosion issues on the Woodpecker Trail at Magnolia Springs or lend a hand on sprucing up the pollinator garden at Tallulah. Volunteer at a park near you and be part of protecting Georgia's treasured resources.

The Fall Colors Are Calling

Georgia's scenery is painted with a breathtaking array of fall colors throughout October and November. Stay in a campsite, cottage or lodge room and take in the reds, yellows, and everything in between as you explore the best autumn scenes the state has to offer! Volunteers At Work

 

  • Friends Of Cloudland Canyon- Made crucial drainage improvements at 26 locations along the Sittons Gulch trail. Thanks to passport grants and dedicated volunteers, the trail is now much safer for visitors.
  • Friends Of Chattahoochee Bend- Recently came to the rescue when a large tree obstructed one of their park's trails. They quickly removed the tree, ensuring the path was accessible for all.
  • Friends Of  Travelers Rest- Contributed to the restoration of Meelys Cabin by installing a new shaw rope bed and restoring an old humback trunk.
  • Friends of Crooked River State Park- The Nature Center was given a makeover by adding plants, weed mat, and mulch.
