Christmas at the Inn Brings Holiday Spirit to Travelers Rest

Christmas at the Inn

Friends of Travelers Rest recently celebrated a successful Christmas at the Inn event, welcoming visitors over two festive weekends filled with history, community, and holiday cheer. Attendance was strong throughout both weekends, reflecting the continued enthusiasm and support of the local community.Community clubs partnered with Friends volunteers to transform the historic stagecoach inn with handmade decorations and native greenery, recreating the warm, authentic atmosphere of 1800s Christmas celebrations. The careful attention to period-appropriate details brought the site’s history to life, offering visitors a meaningful connection to the past.Guests enjoyed live holiday music while lending a hand decorating the Christmas tree, sampling homemade treats, and warming up with cups of hot apple cider. Demonstrations of traditional skills, including quilting and flax spinning, added to the immersive experience and highlighted the craftsmanship that would have been common during the inn’s early years.Adding a special touch to the weekend, volunteers Tommy and Mary delighted visitors by serving apple cobbler prepared in the inn’s rustic kitchen. Their efforts, along with those of many dedicated volunteers, helped make Christmas at the Inn a memorable celebration of heritage, hospitality, and the season of giving.
