Moonshine Festival at Tugaloo State Park
Pre-registration has ended but the event is free and open to the public. A $10 parking fee or annual ParkPass is required.
Moonshining has been part of rural life across Georgia since the late 1700s — a way for farmers to turn surplus grain into an income and, during Prohibition, one of the region’s most resilient underground industries. In the hills and hollows of northeast Georgia, including Franklin County, the production and consumption of moonshine had a profound impact on local economies, culture, and folklore.
Join Friends of Tugaloo State Park on March 14 for the Moonshine Festival as we celebrate that colorful history. There will be craft vendors, sweet treats, food, and live music. There will also be free mini-golf, and our Naturalist, Jonathan, will be set up in the Kids Zone.
If you plan to participate in the moonshine tastings, you must sign the liability waiver. Upon arrival at the event, please provide a photo ID that contains your date of birth and your event ticket.
We will have shirts for purchase, but a limited supply. They are available for pre-order. We will also be raffling off a Blackstone 2 Burner Liquid Propane Gas Griddle. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 3 for $12, also available for pre-order. If you pre-order your VIP Pass, it includes the $10 daily parking fee.
