Head to the Dahlonega Gold Museum this weekend and check out the brand new museum!
On Monday, June 18, the Dahlonega Gold Museum celebrated its Grand Re-Opening! Friends was able to contribute financially to the initial planning and design of the new exhibits. They also helped restore the museum building. This amazing makeover has been three years in the making and the work has definitely paid off.
Friends volunteers also helped with setting up new exhibits. The new museum contains all new signage, interactive exhibits, remodeled gift shop and so much more! Head to Dahlonega, Georgia to see for yourself! You can learn about the rich history of Dahlonega and about Georgia's 1829 Gold Rush one of the first in the country!
The first floor of the museum is all about the gold rush and the mint that used to be located in Dahlonega. On the second floor of the museum you can learn about the gold mines and about the old Lumpkin county courthouse.
Plus you can stroll around beautiful downtown Dahlonega!
