Friends Provides Statewide Support for SPLASH Water Safety Initiative

Friends Gives Major Boost to Statewide Water Safety Initiative

470 Life Jackets, 44 Kiosks, One Statewide Effort

Friends contributes $11,000 to fully restock DNR-managed Life Jacket Loaner Kiosks across Georgia.

Friends of Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites is giving a major boost to SPLASH, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ statewide water safety initiative, with more than $11,000 in support to fully restock Life Jacket Loaner Kiosks across Georgia.

Through this support, Friends provided 470 new life jackets to fully restock all 44 DNR-managed Life Jacket Loaner Kiosks across the state, expanding access to properly fitted life jackets for people enjoying Georgia’s lakes, rivers and waterways.

“At Friends, we believe everyone should be able to enjoy Georgia’s waters safely. Supporting this effort is a natural extension of our mission to protect and enhance the outdoor experiences people love.”
— Damon Kirkpatrick, President & CEO, Friends of Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites

This support comes as DNR revitalizes SPLASH, a statewide water safety initiative focused on education, prevention and partnerships that help keep Georgians safer on and around the water.

Life Jacket Loaner Kiosks are an important part of that effort, giving visitors access to life jackets they can borrow while enjoying the water and return when they’re finished. Fully restocking all 44 DNR-managed kiosks will help ensure life jackets are available when visitors need them.

“We are grateful to Friends of Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites for their generous donation of life jackets to support the revitalization of the SPLASH initiative. This gift will help restock our Life Jacket Loaner Kiosks, increasing access to properly fitted life jackets for families and visitors across Georgia. Through partnerships like this, we are strengthening water safety and helping more people enjoy Georgia's waterways safely.”
— Walter Rabon, Commissioner, Georgia Department of Natural Resources

Supporting SPLASH is a natural extension of what Friends does—investing in projects and programs that make a difference for Georgia’s State Parks & Historic Sites and the people who enjoy them.

This statewide effort was also strengthened through our partnership with REI, which donated life jackets to support SPLASH. We’re grateful for their generosity and shared commitment to helping people enjoy Georgia’s outdoors safely.

With 470 new life jackets and all 44 DNR-managed kiosks fully restocked, Friends is proud to be part of giving SPLASH renewed momentum and expanding access to important water safety resources across Georgia.
