Friends Volunteers Receive Special Recognition

VSA.jpg

Friends of Georgia State Parks has over 6,000 volunteers annually who help make Georgia's parks beautiful and well-preserved for future generations. However, few are as dedicated to making an impact as Bill and Joy Purvis. Together, this couple is a powerhouse of service for Tallulah Gorge State Park. They have spent thousands of hours working on planting native plants, repaving walkways, preserving the park's natural resources, making the park ADA accessible and countless other projects that help make Tallulah Gorge the thriving park that it is today.

For their outstanding contributions and dedication to Friends, Bill and Joy Purvis were recently awarded as Friends volunteers of the year. This dynamic team received their statewide recognition, the Volunteer Spirit Award, in August and were later recognized by Friends Board of Directors and Georgia's Board of Natural Resources Directors for their service.

Our deepest gratitude is extended to Bill and Joy for their hard work, as well as all of our dedicated Friends volunteers who help keep Georgia beautiful. It is because of their efforts that Georgia's state parks are ranked among some of the finest in the nation. Thank you to all who support Friends in making a difference in preserving and enhancing our state's greatest resources.
