ADCom Solutions is a company that likes to make a difference not only in the many services it offers, but also in their community. Each quarter one department gets to choose a community service project and recruit volunteers to tackle the task. The first quarter the Project Managers got to choose the initiative as the company offered their services to the City of Refuge. The ADCom volunteers hoisted 2x6’s and armed with nail guns and hammers helped build an indoor greenhouse. The second quarter selection fell to the Accounting Department and their project was to paint Shelter 2 at Amicalola Falls State Park.
There must be something about the North Georgia Mountains and a positively gorgeous June day because it lured 20 volunteers to the park to work their magic on Shelter 2. The Amicalola Friends Chapter provided all of the paint and materials required for the makeover, but the ADCom Solutions volunteers provided the labor. A few brave souls started work at 8:30 A.M., but by 9 there was a full crew of painters. The group worked till noon then took a break for a picnic lunch while they waited for the ceiling to dry. The ceiling was finished by 1:30 and all the chairs and tables had been wiped down and set up in the greatly improved surroundings. Everyone not only had the satisfaction of seeing what a difference their efforts had made but also had time to explore the Park and simply enjoy the day. “Many hands make light work” and twenty ADCom Solutions volunteers made a huge difference on a very large project. Shelter 2 has a fresh new look and twenty of ADCom Solutions employees, friends, and family know the joy of volunteering and giving back to their community.
