RIDES on the River Car Show and Super Museum Sunday

Rides on the River Car Show

BUSY WEEKEND ALONG THE OGEECHEE

Over the weekend, Friends of Fort McAllister State Park supported two major events at Fort McAllister State Park: Rides on the River Car Show and Super Museum Sunday.

Set against a picturesque, sunny February weekend in Georgia, both events were exceptionally well attended. The annual Rides on the River Car Show welcomed more than 900 guests, featured several local vendors, and included participation in the Friends group raffle. Visitors enjoyed an impressive display of rare, classic, and historic automobiles, along with cannon and musket firing demonstrations, guided fort tours, and refreshments provided by the Friends of Fort McAllister State Park in partnership with a generous donation from Richmond Hill Auto Care Center.

Super Museum Sunday also drew strong attendance, with visitors immersing themselves in the sights and sounds of Civil War soldier life. Guests explored the history of Fort McAllister, its strategic role in Civil War naval warfare, and its significance in the events leading to the conclusion of Sherman's March to the Sea.

Weekends like this demonstrate the powerful partnership between park staff and dedicated volunteers. We extend our sincere thanks to all who gave their time and energy to make these events such a success.
