Fall Festivals Begin!

September marks the onset of the autumn season bringing vibrant colors and pleasant temperatures, drawing many enthusiasts to the great outdoors.  Georgia state parks and historic sites along with many Friends chapters are gearing up for some fantastic events and unforgettable fun!

Many parks and historic sites are offering a variety of events and programs appropriate for the season.  Elijah Clark State Park is inviting you to their three days of food and bluegrass during their Annual Bluegrass Festival

For those who need a weekday break, Panola Mountain State Park’s 7th Annual Toast to Tourism may be the perfect opportunity for some fun activities.  Tree climbing, archery, fly fishing, geocaching, wildlife classes and their bug safari will certainly keep you and your family busy.  

Perhaps stepping back into the pioneer days will spark your interest as you embark on discoveries which are both educational and exciting!  The Heritage Farm at General Coffee State Park will spring to life during their Pioneer Harvest Festival as Friends volunteers demonstrate the skills and labors of 19th century farm life.  Musicians and crafters will be on site exhibiting pioneer life. 

Red Top Mountain State Park is hosting Harvest Time at the Homestead where the Vaughn Cabin transforms back to its pioneer days with Friends volunteers demonstrating blacksmithing, weaving, cooking, candle making, spinning, woodworking, music, dancing, and pioneer games! The Civil War camp and blackpowder demonstrations create an unforgettable experience for every visitor.
