Historic Pool Used By President FDR Opens This Weekend!

Humid, hot temperatures rolling into Georgia mark the onset of summer filled with outdoor adventures and family vacations. Memorial Day weekend often is that pivitol bridway between spring and summer. What better way to celebrate the onset of summer than to go for a refreshing swim!

This Memorial Day weekend, join Friends of Little White House from Saturday May 26 to Monday, May 28 for a swim in the historic pools built by President F.D. Roosevelt as an oasis for therapy and relaxation. Typically, this historic pool is closed for preservation but this Memorial Day weekend, the pool will be opened and filled with naturally warm spring water for you and your family's enjoyment!

Brian Roslund, Friends chapter president at Roosevelt's Little White House Historic Site, shares that "Swimming in the warm mineral water provided no miracle cure," but, "it did provide Roosevelt the inner strength to re-enter the political world and run for Governor of New York and later the Presidency. It was here that Roosevelt was able to stand in three feet of water unaided. The bi-carbonate provided buoyancy, he could exercise for longer periods of time without fatigue because of the minerals content and temperature. He was also able to move his leg for the first time in three years."

We can't wait to you at the pool this weekend as we celebrate history and remember those that have given us the great gift of freedom. For more information, including prices and hours, CLICK HERE and have a very safe and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend!
