Friends of your Georgia state parks and historic sites are inviting you to join us statewide for Your State Parks Day on September 29, 2012 in honor of National Public Lands Day.  We want to give you free admission on this day to YOUR Georgia state parks and historic sites in order to invite you to spend some time volunteering with us or to simply come out to the parks to enjoy these treasured resources.

Friends members across the state are working hard to prepare fantastic activities and opportunities for you and your family.  In our effort to make an outstanding impact, Friends has partnered with REI so that, together, we can achieve our goals for greater stewardship along with creating fun and memorable experiences.

At various state parks and historic sites throughout our state, Friends is hosting service projects for you to get involved.  Opportunities for everyone, of every age, are available. We are giving you the chance to give back to your parks and communities in a fun and meaningful way.  Door prizes, tee shirts, and refreshments will be available for everyone who is interested in getting involved. Not only that, you will learn more about what it means to be a Friend and a steward of our resources.

"REI is proud to support a program that not only engages the local community to take care of their public lands, but makes the volunteer experience fun and memorable," said Mark Gialanella, Atlanta Market Outreach Specialist with REI. "Friends of Georgia State Parks has done an incredible job in this area."

By vising your Georgia state parks on September, 29, you’ll be able to see first hand not only the needs of our state parks, but how you can be a part of the solution.  Friends invites you to join us for this Free Admission day to make a tangible difference in your community.
