After speaking at a Glynn County Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Commissioner Mark Williams was invited by Friends of Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation State Historic Site to join them at their site. The Commissioners visit to the coast was well-received, announcing that he does not intend to make further budget cuts for the operations of our coastal state parks and historic sites this fiscal year.

Several of our coastal sites have been greatly affected in recent years, forcing sites like Hofwyl to limit their operations to three days a week.

"We have to live under the economic realities," the Commissioner shared with The Brunswick News. "We have had to become a little bit leaner."

Particularly in light of the Commissioner's hopeful news for the future, it was an honor for Friends of Hofwyl-Broadfield to host the Commissioner for his first visit to their favorite site. Site Manager Bill Giles and Friends chapter leaders were thrilled to share their passion for Hofwyl, the importance of preserving its rich history, and share their concerns for the future.
