Andy Fleming, Executive Director

Prior to joining Friends as Executive Director in 2007, Andy served more than 25 years in leadership positions creating, leading and managing local and national nonprofit organizations in Paralympic sports. From its inception in 1990 to its successful conclusion, Andy served as president and chief executive officer of the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games – the world’s second largest sporting event in 1996.

Andy has served in a variety of volunteer capacities, including ten years on the U. S. Olympic Committee’s Committee on Sports for the Disabled, as a member of the board of trustees of Leadership Atlanta, the board of directors of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, and is an active member of the Atlanta Rotary Club. Andy is an avid outdoorsman enjoying fly fishing and kayaking with his wife, Marina.

After serving as a volunteer for four years with the Friends chapter at Red Top Mountain State Park, Damon joined the organization in 2007. Following a ten-year career in the technology industry with AT&T, Hewlett-Packard and Agilent Technologies, Damon brought his experience to bear solving some of our early technology challenges. Since accepting the position as Director in 2011, Damon has overseen Friends operations from chapter development and fundraising through to marketing and social media. He currently lives in Rome, Georgia with his wife and two children who all enjoy hiking and camping and who continue to volunteer at Red Top Mountain State Park.

Deb began with Friends as a volunteer in 2003 after working at Red Top Mountain State Park for a summer.  Since then, she has volunteered at numerous parks across the state including Smithgall Woods, Dahlonega Gold Museum, Red Top Mountain, Etowah Mounds and more.  Since joining the organization as Operations Manager in 2008, she has maintained the organization's finances.  With a background in business operations and small business accounting, she has helped the organization evolve through tremendous growth.  Deb continues to volunteer at many different parks and enjoys spending time on quiet hikes in the outdoors and interpreting pioneer era Georgia for park guests.

Rhonda got her start with State Parks in 2003 as a clerk at the Red Top Mountain Visitor’s Center. It was here that she got started working in administration and as a volunteer, assisting with programs. From there she worked in Human Resources supporting a region of the state parks. With a background in administration, Rhonda joined the Friends organization in 2009. As Membership Coordinator she helps in maintaining the member database, processes memberships, and works closely with members, park staff and chapters in an array of areas. Rhonda lives in Cartersville with her two children and they all enjoy camping, hiking and volunteering with the parks.
