A Time of Thanks

November is a time where the leaves are rich in color, the cool air becomes brisk, and the merriment of the holidays begins.  It’s a popular time for bikers, hikers, and campers to set out on adventures, exploring the great outdoors and allowing the beauties of creation to captivate the senses.   Families and couples set out, enjoying hayrides happening at various Georgia state parks and many are culminating their perfect, outdoor experiences with cozy campfires and gooey s’mores!

As you enjoy these seasonal pleasures with family and friends, reflecting on our nation’s history and daily privileges, remember to offer a warm smile or friendly gesture. This Thanksgiving season, many are showing their appreciation in various ways and you can participate as well. If you want to become involved with volunteering as a way to express your gratitude and appreciation, contact your local Friends chapter, local state park, or local historic site to find out ways in which you can get involved. Perhaps you prefer to express your thanks by your financial contributions.  Donations made to Friends go to support the ongoing efforts of volunteer projects and programming at your state parks and historic sites throughout Georgia.

No matter your preferences, remember Friends and your Georgia parks and historic sites this season as you give thanks for the surrounding beauty of nature and the efforts of those who strive to preserve this beauty for future generations. Have a very joyous Thanksgiving and thank you for your ongoing support
