Friday, September 21 was a great day for Friends of Amicalola Falls as they graciously accepted a check for $50,000 from Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation ("EMC") for restoration of the top of the falls and creek, a new utility vehicle and plans for fulfilling further maintenance needs at the park. For decades, Amicalola EMC has been a strong community partner, giving back to their communities. Their commitment to developing and improving their local communities is benefiting education and organizations, like Friends, who share their vision for improving the needs of the community.

Friends of Amicalola Falls is very appreciative to Amicalola EMC for their generosity and looks forward to fostering their strong partnership.

"We are beyond ecstatic and truly honored to receive this funding from Amicalola EMC," says Kathy Brigman, chapter president of Friends of Amicalola. "This funding allows our Friends group to make much needed park improvements. I'm very grateful to EMC."

"Funds were awarded from Amicalola EMC's unclaimed property account established by O.C.G.A 44-12-236 that allows an electric membership corporation to donate capital credits presumed abandoned if the funds are used for educational purposes in the EMC's service area," shares Charles Gibson, President/CEO.

Amicalola EMC is a not-for profit electric cooperative which provides electricity and related services to over 45,000 locations in north Georgia in Bartow, Cherokee, Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Gordon, Lumpkin, Murray and Pickens counties.
