At Cloudland Canyon State Park, the trails tell a story of dedication, craftsmanship, and community. Behind every smooth turn, stable crossing, and widened pathway is the tireless work of the Friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park’s trail crew—an “unbelievable” team whose impact can be seen across the park’s landscape.
From clearing overgrown paths and preventing erosion to building a new footbridge along the Barkeater Mountain Bike Trail, the crew approaches every project with both care and purpose. Their work doesn’t just maintain the park’s trail system—it actively improves it, making each route safer, more sustainable, and more enjoyable for every visitor who sets foot, wheel, or tire on the trail.
One of their most meaningful accomplishments has been widening and constructing new trails designed to support the use of the park’s all-terrain chair. These thoughtful improvements have opened up more of Cloudland Canyon’s natural beauty to visitors of all abilities, ensuring that access and adventure go hand in hand.
Through sweat, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to stewardship, the Friends trail crew continues to shape Cloudland Canyon into a place where the outdoors is not only preserved, but shared. Their work stands as a powerful reminder that strong trails build strong connections—between people, nature, and the community that supports both.
Additionally, underscoring their dedication to safety on the trails, Friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park will host the Aimee Copeland Foundation Buddy Training Class for the all-terrain chair on March 24, 2026.
